I open my eyes and it's the summer and I see my mother's smile I'm in her arms wrapped in a blanket that seems to stretch for miles While she whispers things to me, maybe some old nursery rhyme That her mother sang to her with words that change over time From that day on she made it feel like it was the first day of my life A newborn baby, always learning, just wanting to be by her side Then one day there was a change, she wilted away before my eyes Like the sun setting in the sky, an inescapable goodbye It's a feeling that never dies She tried to give what she never had, something like a mom and dad With all of the shit that's in this world, my life hasn't been half bad It's no reason to be so mad Now I'm the only one around I guess I'm the caretaker of these grounds I'm not much but at least I care Just lay in my arms and I'll stroke your hair The tables have turned, I know this much You once were the one who had me in your clutch I'll whisper the words you passed onto me Except I'll tell them a little differently

Saw you talking to Sister Krista What does she want this time She just needs a little conversation To wash down the taste of wine It's that time of the year again and The needles hanging on the tree There's one in her arm, too now But she doesn't seem to wanna see What others want her to be She'll always lie, so why should I try We're barely related, anyway But I'll be waiting, dearest Krista For the day you finally want to find The things you valued in your life The ones you up and left behind Before you lost control of time

Mama's Boy 02:37
There's a sickness in this family that's tearing us apart What should we do about it, talking would be a good start Or stare at the stars It's taken my mother's mother and her father before her Now I'm scared it'll take me before they find a cure Makes me so insecure The future doesn't look too bright but we push through the day I don't know what to do anymore, don't know what to say It's gonna be okay So just give her a break, she doesn't mean to annoy The little time we have together we should try to enjoy I'm such a mama's boy

Jobs 02:45
All your friends they have their jobs They talk about the jobs they have Is it strange to be at home Locked away in your room alone They talk about the jobs they had The fun, the easy and the bad Can't contribute to anything Is this the best life has to bring There goes your life, there it is just speeding past It's moving fast While you wonder who you are and what you're going to be It's not easy The money comes and the money goes What we're working for, no one knows Losing track of the things you own While you take out another loan When they're the ones without their jobs They'll wonder why it feels so wrong It's never too late to be anything It's better to fail then to think of what could've been

When I Die 03:59
I'm not scared, just a little petrified I won't sleep tonight Turn up the heat, turn out the lights I will be alright, I won't fight I won't sleep when I die I will learn to fly when I die If it'll be quick I'll happily oblige Day will turn to night I'll fly high, higher than a kite I'll be out of sight, a free flight I won't sleep when I die I will learn to fly when I die Send me up, up through the clouds Or underneath into the ground To be nothing, nothing at all Sounds like the greatest state of all One you won't be able to recall Like an endless, beautiful fall The sun is out and so am I I'm not afraid to die Faster than falling asleep Counting a million sheep Don't make a peep I won't sleep when I die I will learn to fly when I die

She died on Christmas Eve And you arrived on New Years Day It's quite unfortunate But you're in good spirits anyway Mommy don't die Daddy don't cry So when she goes you better not die with her, too Cause you've still got work here to do We did the best we could With the little that we had Our lives haven't been the worst They've just been a little sad Now she's in your head In whatever you say or do And her voice is on repeat Saying "don't look so blue" Mommy don't die Cause I need you alive Cause if you go I wouldn't know what to do But one day I'll come floating back to you
